The Anna Chaplaincy Training Course Online is a six-session Zoom training programme equipping the learner for a role as Anna Chaplain. It is available to those who are supported by their local church in taking on a role as Anna Chaplain, and covers the key principles of Anna Chaplaincy, exploring spirituality of later life and ways of offering spiritual care alongside older people. The course is delivered by a tutor experienced in Anna Chaplaincy, with guest Anna Chaplains joining sessions to talk about their ministry. The fee includes a learner manual, but participants will also need to purchase a copy of The Anna Chaplaincy Handbook, which is essential reading for the course (cost £25.00 plus £3.00 P&P) – to request a link for purchasing the Handbook, email annachaplaincy@brf.org.uk. Learners will receive a certificate of attendance at the end of the course. Please ensure you can attend all six sessions before booking a place. Who is the course aimed at?

The course has been designed for those preparing for a role as Anna Friend or Anna Chaplain, covering information about the spirituality of older people and how Anna Chaplaincy responds to spiritual needs in later life. It is also available to those who are already commissioned as Anna Chaplains and Anna Friends. There is a maximum group size of 14, to allow learners to contribute to discussions and get to know each other.

What is included?

-Six two-hour Zoom sessions with a tutor experienced in Anna Chaplaincy plus guest Anna
-Chaplains who contribute to several sessions
-A learner manual with reading and tasks for each session, and follow-up resources
-A Certificate of Attendance on completion of the course

What commitment must learners on the course make?

Learners attend six Zoom training sessions and complete tasks and reading between sessions that should take no more than two hours. There is no assessed element, but at the end of the course participants are encouraged to give a presentation to their church council and write a reflection for their own benefit.
