Description

Written by older people for older people, these reflections are designed to bring hope, assurance and sustenance, reminding the reader of the presence and love of God.

In each issue are 40 Bible reflections and prayer suggestions to use and revisit as often as is needed. In the central section, Debbie Thrower of BRF's Anna Chaplaincy ministry (formerly known as The Gift of Years) offers interviews and ideas to encourage and inspire.

The new issue of Bible Reflections for Older People features one of BRF’s favourite authors writing on one of the world’s favourite psalms: Tony Horsfall reflects on Psalm 23, ‘The shepherd psalm’.

‘Why is it still so popular?’ he asks, and concludes that it’s ‘because is it such a positive psalm, packed full of reassurance about the love, care and protection of God for his people.’

Roger Combes writes about ‘Jesus and animals’, Sue Richards writes about nourishment, both physical and spiritual, and ‘Tricia Williams writes about ‘Keeping faith’ in troubled times.

When ‘Tricia wrote her reflections she couldn’t possibly have known the unprecedented ‘troubles’ we face today, yet the last paragraph of her last reflection, on Hebrews 12:1-2, is spine-tinglingly apt: ‘Perseverance has the has the sense of endurance. This race will need determination, courage and trust as look ahead to Jesus, “the pioneer and perfecter of our faith’. He is with us in the present and waits for us in the future. Let’s keep faith – and keep our eyes on him.’
