Celebrating Festivals

Readings, reflections, crafts and prayer activities for 20 major church festivals

Sally Welch

Currently out of stock £8.99

Ideal for use in all-age worship, Sunday school, activity mornings or Messy Church events, this resource provides material for 20 major festivals throughout the church year.

Each section has a unifying theme and includes suggested Bible passages, a reflection for adults, a children's story and questions, a prayer activity, 'messy' craft activities and edible craft activities. An additional dimension links each festival to a part of the church building, helping children to understand the idea of sacred space and explore the relationship between the physical and the spiritual.

The book also addresses the practicalities of crafting with children, with detailed advice on resources, setting up activities, recipes and safety.

Here are readings and wondering questions, reflections (for the leaders of the session), crafts and prayer activities for 20 of the church's festivals such as Candlemas, Trinity Sunday, Remembrance and Christ the King as well as the more usual ones of Christmas, Easter and Pentecost. There is a good range of crafts, always including something edible, for each session though ideas for physical games and activities are not included. Buy this book and you will have most of the planning done for 20 sessions - so it is good value!
