Content
Bible Journeys Holiday Club contains a five-session thematic holiday club programme for small churches, which could equally be used as a series of one-off activity days.
The material is ideal for welcoming children into the life of a rural church using minimal resources. All the ideas and insights are from a rural perspective and rooted in the particular challenges found in rural situations - although many of the circumstances encountered would equally apply in the urban context.
The five two-hour sessions contain a wealth of off-the-peg ideas exploring the Bible journeys made by Noah, Moses, Jonah and Paul, as well as our own experience of travelling the Christian journey together.
The activities can be lengthened or shortened depending on the age and ability of the children and include ideas for:
- Bible stories based on the theme
- Creating a display for the church
- Well-known songs
- Crafts
- Games
- Creative prayer
The material is introduced with helpful hints on how to run a simple holiday club programme or one-off stand-alone activity days in small churches, including information on planning and preparation, using the Bible, creative storytelling, reflective prayer and a concluding act of worship.
