This resource provides all you need for an easy-to-use musical and dramatic interpretation of the Christmas story. It offers the flexibility to run a series of five assemblies in the busy lead-up to Christmas, a stand-alone act of worship with presentation readings, or an end-of-term presentation in school or service in the local church. The material is ideal for Key Stage 2 assemblies.
Whichever method of delivery you choose, each interpretation comes complete with musical scores for the original songs accompanying the scripted material. There is also the opportunity to purchase a professional recording of the songs and their backing tracks for use during rehearsals or the performance itself.
The project has been developed and performed at Hook-with-Warsash CE Controlled Primary School in Southampton over a number of years and is designed to build up pupils' knowledge and understanding of the story of Christmas. Alongside the five outlines for use before Christmas, a further optional assembly outline is provided to continue the story into Epiphany.
You can purchase mp3 files of the vocal and backing tracks mentioned in this book

Reviews
From RE Centre - December 2011
The talented Mark Baxter is a teacher at Hampshire's Hook-with-Warsash CE Primary School. He has published this high quality resource which provides five assemblies about the Christmas story, a Christmas presentation, full music scores and MP3 downloads available to purchase. Each assembly provides background information and Bible links followed by the script for narrator or pupils and guidance for the assemblies. There are also follow up suggestions for reflections in the classroom after the assemblies.
The five assemblies are designed to be used in the run up to Christmas and tell the story from the first week of Advent up to the visit of the Magi. Shorter sections of these assemblies can be used together to provide a Christmas presentation.
This is an excellent resource which will support primary schools in their plans to celebrate Christmas in assembly time.
