Sharing Faith
Biblical Reflections for Today
Edited by Gavin Wakefield
Currently out of print £6.99Content
Sharing Faith is for all who want to think about sharing their faith in today's world, starting from what the Bible has to say about this key Christian responsibility. Ranging across Old and New Testaments, a team of contributors share insights about how evangelism can be carried out most effectively in a rapidly changing culture.Using a 'daily readings' format, each Bible passage is unpacked by a lively and readable commentary and followed by questions for reflection and discussion, so that the book is ideal for group use. At the time of writing all the contributors were tutors and lecturers of St John's College, Durham, involved in the training of lay and ordained ministers, mainly for the Church of England and the Methodist Church: Alan Bartlett, Mark Bonnington, Richard Briggs, Jocelyn Bryan, Mark Cartledge, David Clough, Steven Croft, Robert Fyall, Judy Hirst, Liz Hoare, Charles Read, Helen Thorpe, Geoffrey Stevenson, Roger Walton, David Wilkinson.

What began as a series of Bible readings to students has developed into a collection of thoughts and reflections on passages that have particular significance to the various authors. Although Sharing Faith is presented as a series of daily Bible readings and commentaries, Gavin Wakefield emphasises that it does not have to be used in that way. However, it does have questions for reflection and discussion and is ideal for group use. And, of course, it does encourage the reader to think seriously about evangelism - popular misconceptions, examples of evangelism at work in both Old and New Testaments, and some insights into how the mission of the Church can be best served in a changing world.
